Gaijin Gunpla

The second big December release doesn’t seem so big compared to the other big December release. I’ll have to decide which I want to build first but given my lack of free time, which is now more than ever (less than ever?), rather than diving into a Perfect Grade I may opt for the RG Full Armor Unicorn Gundam instead.

I expected this kit on the 24th but it didn’t arrive before the holidays. Then it showed up the morning of the 27th while I was leaving for work so I did what any sensible Gunplar would do, I signed for it and took it with me to work so I could check it out as soon as possible.

I was surprised to see this released at all but on thinking about it, it does make sense. With a PG kit released in December likely Bandai doesn’t want to have two major kits competing against each other. This means that there’s a chance the April release RG will be the Nu Gundam. Yes, I’m still waiting. This FA Unicorn allows Bandai to make a statement with RG release number 30 but save some thunder for the new year.

As you can see this is a big box RG release, the second after the epic Sazabi released recently. We know what takes up that extra space.

Armour. Full Armour.

I think by now everyone is familiar with the RG Unicorn kit… and it variants and other so I’ll not need to show that but

Green psychoframe spotted!

The appeal of this kit is all the weapons/accessories that make it Full Armour.

There’s entire frame runners that are new.

And we all know what these are.

It’s amazing just how much stuff there is here. Though we’ve seen it before with the MG Full Armor Unicorn Ver. Ka, which is a larger scale, there is good reason Bandai needed the bigger box. The perusal of the manual is a good summation.

Construction of the Unicorn ends on page 14 then it’s a couple pages of transformation instructions.

Then on page 18 the new stuff begins.

Weapons!

By the time you’re finished with construction and attaching all of those you’ll be past page 29.

And on to page 30.

That’s… does math… 12 pages just for weapons.

And then you can look at these.

My god that’s a lot of markings.

Back of the manual shows the Unicorn.

But what about the.. oh there it is on the inside of the last page.

Multiple sessions required.

Despite my now familiarity with the RG Unicorn I expect this kit to take me a while.

I have a day off on Monday. Should I start then? Some New Year’s Eve building?

Will be impressive to have this on my desk.

Destroy Mode or Unicorn Mode? That is the question.
