Those Hi-Resolution Model kits sure are beauties. Okay, yes, I’ve technically only built one of the two released so far so I’m working at 50% but I’m definitely going to be all over the Hi Resolution Model Gundam Astray Red Frame which will put me at 66.666% and makes me some kind of authority.

Or, even if it doesn’t, I think we can all agree that the models and the production of them right down to the box styles are fantastic.

I think Bandai really knows what they are doing when it comes to their grades and the different packaging and manual styles. Real Grade kits have their own distinct box art and likewise Perfect Grade kits are wonderful in their design and presentation when it comes to the package on offer.

The Hi-Resolutions now also have a packaging style that is really eye-grabbing.

Check out shots from the back of the box.

That definitely sells the kit, if you ask me.

The inside of the Red Frame package looks like so.

I see we have plenty of markings.

And it looks like I’ll have more than enough hands.

Gold parts.

The white armour runners.

And, what may be more important to me than others, the plated katana blade with a hamon!

All of this stuff comes together and then goes on to the frame provided by Bandai.

I’m salivating right now, but I’ll still take a moment to show off the surprisingly small yet well laid out instruction manual.

I mentioned it being small. Here’s something in the shot for comparison.

More on those later.

Here’s the marking guide.

Can’t wait! Gonna start now!

Thats some nasty future nubmark on that katana….

Personally find this version a little too bulky for my taste.
Thought Astray RF was supposed to be more sleek and streamlined though I guess MBs already did that

I loved the other 2 Hi-Res, but this Red Frame is definitely the worst out of all the astrays available. The proportions are just so out of place, the shoulders and thighs are massive, making it look way less slim and sleek as it should

Barbatos was good but the Wing was a miss. .

if bandai will do a Sinanju I’m in!

I couldn’t agree more, this Astray is thick, even the sword looks more like big wakizashi rather than a katana

Original lineart for the Red Frame was a chunky boy. It was supposed to recall bulky samurai armor. Later media thinned it down into a more “sleek” aesthetic, but the HRM and PG kits are closer to the original intent.
