I’ve built the 1/100 Barbatos Gundam and I’ve built the 1/144 Lupus so naturally it’s time to take on the 1/100 Full Mechanics Gundam Barbatos Lupus.
Most of us Gunplars noted that this new Barbatos kit wasn’t simply called 1/100 Barbatos Lupus but now has a new designation, 1/100 Full Mechanics Barbatos Lupus. Yup, it looks like Bandai has decided to rename this 1/100 line to differentiate it from some of the other 1/100 lines. Actually, I’m not quite sure that’s the reasoning behind it but I can’t think of any other reason besides wanting to draw more attention to it.
Does being a Full Mechanics kit mean that there are more mechanical aspect to it in regards to the frame? I will show you, but first let’s look at some interesting things found in the box.
The frame runners are probably what everyone is interested in. Here are the C1 and C2 runners.
1/100 IBO Gundam Frame 1. I guess this is the same runner found in the first 1/100 Barbatos.
Here is the D runner.
It too is designated 1/100 IBO Gundam Frame 1.
Okay. So far nothing new.
So here’s the B Runner.
Here’s the new stuff.
1/100 Gundam Barbatos Lupus
I’ll also show the weapon runner in this kit.
That long sword looks surprisingly like the gift being given out to attendees of the Gunpla Expo Winter 2016 last weekend.
The box art and manual art only shows it with one sword though.
Check out all that English.
Wait a minute?
That seems a little odd.
I’m not going to provide a lot of text because I think the frame assembly of the 1/100 IBO kits is pretty well known now but I will point out whenever there’s something new in the build. Remember the new parts all come from the B runner.
There’s the torso. That was all done with C and D runner parts with some poly-caps.
Here’s the head.
All these parts, except the poly-cap, are from the new B runner.
Now for the arms.
No new parts in the first stages.
But here we have some new parts.
These parts look to extend the length of the arm.
On the outside of each elbow you’ll add one new part as well.
The upper body is now finished with only minor differences.
Nothing new there.
Now we get into the new stuff a little more heavily and it’s the feet where this happens.
Here are the new pieces.
These parts, except the poly-cap again, are all new.
They are from the G runner.
This isn’t’ new.
I still don’t know if I like this or not. I guess it’s kind of cool.
Now for the legs.
The leg frame is pretty much complete before you add some new parts.
The kneecap is also new.
Repeat for the left leg.
Lower body complete.
And here’s the completed frame.
I guess the new stuff is mostly found in the armour. Are we surprised? Disappointed?
