Gaijin Gunpla

So just before Bandai released the Freedom 2.0 they announced an Expansion Effect Set for it and around the same time they revealed there would be a special coated version coming too. Special coating versions of kits tend to be quite a bit more expensive than the regular release and I usually don’t feel the need to pick them up but I had a hunch that the Freedom 2.0 would be pretty special (I was right!) so I put my name down for the Full Burst Mode Special Coating Version as well.

The manual has the colour shot showing its full burst mode.

Interesting that you have to assemble those effect parts.

But they look to be a special pearl effect colour as well!

This kit also comes with its own unique, shiny, water slide decals.

That’s awesome. Also awesome is an action base!

Likely the stand that comes with the Freedom 2.0 isn’t strong enough to handle the extra weight of the coated version. This box is heavy.

I’ll show some shots of the frame runners first.

They appear to have that Gun-metal finish we find on other exclusives.

But the armour! Oh my god.

My pictures can’t do it justice. Of course, I could open the bags to take some pics and I was going to do that but then reconsidered because I don’t want to scratch that beautiful finish. The coated blue is amazing to look at.

The red is nice as well.

Even the grey parts have a good look to them.

I’m looking forward to getting into this kit though I know I will need some good side-cutters to have it look it’s best. Luckily for me, I’m all set there too. Details to come.

Seeing up and close pics make me can’t wait any longer for mine to come in!

Is this similar to titanium finish?

The most important question: is it undergated? If it isn’t, nubmarks management is going to be hell.

It’s a shame that the one gold piece is the normal puke gold, but at least it’s only 1 piece and easy to paint even with a gundam marker.
The finish on those white parts is beautiful, the gloss white with silver highlights around the edges and lines.
I am slightly disappointed that the red/blue/grey parts are not actually coated, rather they are cast in a somewhat shiny metallic plastic instead. After seeing the white I can only imagine how nice it would be if the rest of the kit was like that.

This kit is amazing!!! Too bad that it’s incredibly expensive to get premium releases where I live 🙁 Still happy I got the regular release 🙂
