Gaijin Gunpla

April starts by trying to make a bunch of people feel superior (by tricking people) and a bunch of other people look foolish (those who have been tricked). I avoided being fooled this year and refrained from making a fool out of anyone else so Santa, if you’re reading this, I should have accumulated some more good points. Keep that in mind when you decide on my Christmas present.

The start of any month is usually quite slow when it comes to Gunpla releases, although there are exceptions like when the RG Wing EW dropped at the start of January. April fits right in with the normal pattern and we aren’t going to see anything big (not counting the Ein) until the second half of the month when two big 1/100 scale kits drop. We will first see the RE/100 Efreet Custom around the third week.

I’m digging the box art and out of all the RE/100 kits I’ve built so far, not counting the Nightingale, this is the one I think I’m looking forward to the most. I think it has something to do with this pose.

Ya, that’s pretty awesome.

Just standing still he looks pretty imposing.

It feels like it’s been awhile since the last RE but that’s because it has been a while. The RE/100 Dijeh last June? What are you doin’ Bandai?

And then near the end of the month we have this.

Holy craziness, Batman!

If that box art doesn’t get you excited to build this thing I don’t know what will. Maybe these shots will work.

I cannot wait for this kit! I think it is going to be quite a spectacle.

Those two monsters aside we are also seeing these kits (which I will put in order from most exciting to least).
1/144 HG Graze Ein
HG YMS-03 Vaffu
1/100 Grimgerde
1/144 HGUC Gouf
1/144 Zaku II + Big Gun (Gundam Thunderbolt Ver.) — Anime Ver.
1/144 Full Armor Gundam (Gundam Thunderbolt Ver.) — Anime Ver.

That’s quite a lot of plamo!

If it seems that the start of the year was kind of lean or at least a little too IBO-centric then this is the month for you. Which are you readers looking forward to?

Can’t wait for MG Freedom v2.0 but in all honesty I am also excited for the FA-78 Gundam Thunderbolt, even though it’s scaled 1/144, I think it looks really badass!!!! Glad I managed to pre-order both 🙂 🙂 🙂

    • Frankon says:

FA-78 is a re-release with slightly different color of plastic and some additional color stickers of the kit from 2013 (manga version)

      • Woodfish says:

My thoughts exactly. you could have picked up this kit at any moment. It was just sitting there. The color difference is minor at best.

      • Charlo says:

Yes I know, unfortunately last time I did not manage to pre-order it. Only managed to find it on ebay but I could have got a Perfect Grade with the price some people ask for 🙁 This is one of the times I’m happy that Bandai decided to re-release, even though this release is slightly different than the first one as your good self mentioned.

      • Frankon says:

It was almost all the time in stock on hlj. Heck it was on few sales before (got the FA from such a sale)

      • S2 says:

It has been out of stock for quite a while and no restocks were planned. Finally learned why when we saw the announcement for the anime version.

      • Charlo says:

I guess I did not notice as I used to just go to check only Master Grade availability and never bothered about anything else. Thanks for the heads up! This is one of the things this website has thought me, not to get only MGs 🙂 Now if only Bandai decide to make the FA in MG, that would be perfect!! 🙂

        @S2
Just checked it. It was on sale almost 2 years ago. The kit was so great that i got the Psycho Zaku II for it (really anoying kit).

    FREEEDOOOMMMMMMMMMM

    I still want my saviour

  5. MuGGzy says:

Do we really need ANOTHER “Strike” variant MG??
They could have released a P Bandai backpack/acct kit and gotten the same end result.

I am sure everyone into Gunpla has a laundry list of kits they would rather see than ANOTHER Strike.
But the Efreet is teh secks f’sho!

^^^ is most excited about the new RE/100. I’m looking forward for the next one. Only missing the GP04. An error that’ll be rectified ASAP. Or at least I think so. I’m just finisning a Sazabi and the first RE/100 can’t compare to the Sazabi when it comes to size. It’s a beast, and that’s to say the least.
