Gaijin Gunpla

Some of you may think that with all the PG Unicorn building, videoing, editing, and producing I’ve been doing that I’ve forgotten all about the MG Astray Blue Frame D but that’s not the case at all. I’ve been working on that, too. It is the pulling of pictures from my iPhone that was forgotten. ha!

First thing I thought I would show in the WIP is a shot of the manual.

There are a lot of runners in this kit.

This is going to be very similar to the two other MG Astray variations I’ve assembled so the WIP will not need to include a lot of explanation. Up until…

right about…

here (?) the build is the same as the previous Astrays. Here is the back part for the D.

Check out the A runner.

That one runner is divided up into sections with an A3 and A4 included. I don’t recall seeing that before. The D uses A3 parts.

Grabbing one of the all-new orange runners I can build the head.

Around that large orange piece which makes up the bulk of the head you add white armour parts.

For a complete departure from what we’re used to seeing with MG Astrays I have to assemble these blade-type things. I think they may be blades.

Or maybe they are ears.

Let’s hope they are blades.

As everyone expected when they saw the announcement for the Astray D, most of the build will be the same as the original Second Revise Astray but it’s those orange areas that spur the interest around this kit. More of that will be shown as I work on the body. Once I get those images pulled from my phone. Until then, enjoy this much of the D.

all i want for Christmas is RG GP-03, RG 00, RG Ground-type, MG G-Self, but not the expensive PG Unicorn which look just like the MG one….at least the HG Crossbone is also exciting, but not the redesigned Astray again and again. just my opinion.

The D’s bunny ears are it’s sensor dragoons – much like the strike freedom, the astray blue uses dragoons so they can be deployed automatically, and used to gather data for the battlefield nearby or at long range to help the pilot

…or to ram people using built in thrusters

I’d also guess the D can wield them as they do have handles, if he runs out of other swords… XD

  3. Seems interesting… why would it need blades on its head though? O.o

Anyhoozers, I’m just waiting for Bandai to announce an MG 3.0 Zaku II in Char colors. Come on… we all know it’s gonna happen.

Can someone please explain the pun in the title?
I’m quite fluent in english but it’s not my native language, so maybe that’s why I can’t get it…
    I’m curious… 🙂

I’m not at all a fan of how that blue plastic looks. I have a Red Astray coming in the mail as soon as HLJ restocks and I think I’ll be spraying over all the red on it if it looks like that. Never was a fan of the glossy look but this looks like Legos.
