At the time this post goes up I will be entering the Saitama Super Arena, only about 20 minutes from my house by train, to see Girls’ Generation live as part of their Girls and Peace Tour. How did this come about? Back when the Girls and Peace album released I picked it up and included in the packaging was a card with a code which when entered in a specific site allowed you to enter to win a chance to purchase tickets. You read that correctly. I didn’t think much about it at the time but after putting up that post back on December 7th my good friend, Gunplar, and fellow Girls’ Generation Gawker ASM texted me saying we should try to go. So we entered and a couple of months later found out that we had won (a chance to pay 10,000 yen a ticket).
It’s been a long time since I’ve been to a concert or live event of any kind. In fact, I haven’t been to a concert since I moved to Japan eight years ago. A lot of that has to do with ticket prices but also there are not many of my favourite bands making their way over here. But now I’m attending a K-Pop megabands’ live show. Is it cool or is it kinda creepy? Going to watch a group of young, attractive women dancing around at a venue that’s not a strip club? (just kidding, Mom) I’m nearing 40 years old and yet I’m going to a K-pop concert. But then again I’m nearing 40 years old and I build plastic model robots. YOLO (or something).
I hope everyone enjoys their Friday night and if anyone needs me you know where to find me (I’m the guy on the right.)
