Gaijin Gunpla

I love the Master Grade Shin Matsunaga Zaku II. The Matsunaga has sentimental value for me because it was the second kit I ever built. I liked it so much I went back months after my sloppy newbie build and repainted it to give it the attention it deserved. So when I saw that this great MSV was being released as an HGUC I knew I would be picking it up.

The box art is just as cool as that of the MG and makes Matsunaga’s MS look like the instrument of destruction it is.

Box contents

Three bags of runners for this guy. Of course, Bandai has thrown in promo material for the Hobby Japan May 2013 issue that will include the Banshee head display base.

My build of the MG Shin Matsunaga was my first experience with Bandai’s waterslide decals and I still remember having problems. The decal for the shoulder armor needed to be applied to a very curved surface and was a source of frustration for novice me. When I saw the HGUC I wondered if the markings for the shoulder would be waterslides like the MG or stickers. And the verdict is; stickers.

This makes sense as the HG will probably be picked up by a lot of people wanting an OOB build and who don’t have experience with waterslides.

Foil markings

All the piping is one solid piece and not the individual armor collars like an MG (of course).

And because I like the Shin Matsunaga Zaku II so much I included some more pictures of it taken from the box.

I’ll have to find some time in the next few days to play with this guy.

    Tell us how the stickers go on the ball spiked shoulder. It doesn’t seem like it’ll go on smoothly ^^;
