Gaijin Gunpla

I wrote in this post how I had planned to try using Gundam Real Touch Markers on the MkII AEUG to try and get this effect…

Well, as I finished the MkII I had some good weather and so I decided to paint the red with Tamiya Bright Red, and the blue with Tamiya Dark Blue (as used on the Banshee) and even took some Gunship Gray and Silver Leaf to the backpack. After that I applied all the decals in preparation for a topcoat before Messing it up. Well, after the topcoat dried I started having second thoughts…

With just that little bit of paint and some time with the markings I think it looks awesome.

And now I’ve got to mess it up.

What’s a guy to do?

In the end I decided to take some good pictures of this guy for posterities’ sake before I butcher it with horrible marker technique.

You could just nab another one if this guy goes bunk.

Those thrusters look pretty good. Be brave now and make it awesome. You can always clean the paint from the markers since you topcoated it beforehand.

Looks very nice. I’m gonna get this kit. I’ll also get the 1/144 God Gundam Gold Plated if it ever comes out.

Haha I think we all know this feeling, I was planning on doing the same thing to a ng Astrea type f thinking it would be a crappy ng kit, but once build and top coated, I just couldn’t it was a fun build and looks great :s

Sorry about putting this on an old post, but do you think you could translate the top image? I’m looking to weather up one of my kits and the technique here is wonderful. Nice work Syd.
