Gaijin Gunpla

A warm springlike weekend finally showed itself around these parts last weekend and I took advantage of it by running outside, spray can in one hand and parts in the other.

A day later I assembled everything to evaluate the finish. It definitely looks black in these photos. It’s not quite the look I was going for but it’s close. When certain parts catch the light at the right angle the dark blue can be seen. I will have my work cut out for me when it comes to final photo taking.

Here’s the assembled skirt section. You can see the side armor pieces now who gold through the vents and not that psycho frame orange.

And when viewed from the underside it looks like frame (cause it is).

While the underside of the rear skirt sections look like this.

Torso

Arms

Head

Yup, the faceplate is black (I mean dark blue/black!) I had an extra one (the old ugly yellow runner) so I decided to paint it to match the other armor just to see how it looks.

Here are the weapons and shield.

And I also had to do a bit of this.

Masking.

Soon I’ll be tackling all those decals. Not really looking forward to it.
