Gaijin Gunpla

The buzz of the Gunpla Expo has faded but now I’ve got something to remember it by (besides the pictures, of course) in the form of the newly completed RG Strike Rouge. The build was completed fairly quickly, probably due to the fact that I have built this kit before as the Aile Strike. The stickers however, were another story. On top of that, I wanted to forego some of the stickers in favour of using Gundam markers and also to add some details here or there.

This is one sexy kit, and I gotta say, it puts some Master Grade kits to shame. With the Real Grade line so outstanding Bandai is going to have to come up with something amazing to keep the Master Grade line deserving of the ‘master’ title. But that’s a topic for another discussion.

Bandai supplied extra markings to make this the Rouge. Two went on the shield.

While the remainder went on the torso, shoulders, left leg, as well as one on the skirt.

That 210 sticker you see wasn’t designated for that spot. I just thought it worked well there.

As I mentioned in my last post (which I just noticed now was still in Draft form and never published!!!!!!) Bandai includes an extra runner and designates only certain parts to be used while using parts from the original runner. The best example of this is the side of the striker pack. On the Aile Strike it’s yellow, and that’s what Bandai tells you to use for the Rouge. I went with the pink. Rebel!

And while we’re here, check out the panel lines!

I opted not to use a lot of the foil stickers so any gold you see on the Rouge is gundam marker. I even markered some parts that never required stickers.

You can kind of see it in there.

I also used the marker on the Striker pack.

You can’t really see well from that photo so here are a few more.

And I had an extra sticker so I stuck it on the rear skirt.

The Rouge makes a perfect companion to the Aile, if I do say so myself.

After building this RG again I’m all hyped and ready for more. Bring on the Freedom!

“What do we do now, bro?”
“We write, buddy. We write.”

Was it that pink before or is it just Bandai being creative?

Just a sinde note: if Cagalli’s such a tomboy, then why does she pilot THIS out into the battlefield?

For the panels lines did you stick with a black gundam marker or used thinned enamel paint?

  7. Mark says:

What’s that “sumire” gundam marker? Is it a type of color?

Lovely kit, I want to get the Strike Rouge too!
But I has found a place that sells it on pre-order? Very expensive. 🙂
