Gaijin Gunpla

I missed out on the original Beargguy. Well, that’s not entirely true. I had wanted to pick it up to build with Gai-Gun Jr but when they released there wasn’t enough in stock. So I waited, and forgot about it. Well, there’s a new Beargguy in town, this one being the 限定 (limited edition) 7-11 version. Knowing the exclusivity of this item I grabbed it as soon as I saw it and the next day Gai-Gun Jr and I got to work.

Here are the box contents and the included 7-11 stickers.

And the marking guide for those stickers.

I don’t let Jr. play with the side-cutters so what we do is I cut them off and put in the poly-caps and then Jr will squeeze the the pieces together to complete a section. She has become quite good at the assembly part of things but she likes doing the sticker work most of all. Rather than show WIP pictures I will instead show some a little tidbit about this kit.

The recorder that attaches to the backpack. This style of backpack is standard in Japan. Every school child will have one and often their recorder is strapped to the side. Bandai made a nice touch including the recorder, though it falls off easily and will soon be lost.

Here’s the backpack with the stickers on.

Bandai gives you two stickers allowing you the choice of which to use. Jr. and I both felt it looks better with both.

So after about 40 minutes Jr and I created this.

She doesn’t like the extended arm at all, but I am including it for completion’s sake.

Huzzah.

Upon completion Jr picked it up and showed her mommy and paraded it around the house, then called her grandmother to tell her what she did. It now sits near the phone. She was reluctant to let me take it out of the house in order to take pictures, so I waited until she was asleep and put it in my car. Here’s a gallery.

Ah, another cool exclusive. My wife is going to hate you for having this one!

So much fun doing Gunpla with the kids! I let my boy find which polycap I need and he twists it off for me. This serves 2 purposes: 1) keeps him busy while I trim up the parts so he can snap them together and 2) he learns his alphabet! We have an SD Gundam we’ve been working on for a loonnng time, because I’m letting him do EVERYTHING. He’s old enough to use the nippers (under my close supervision), so I just give him the manual and let him figure it out. Usually his (or his dad’s) patience runs out after a few minutes and we put it back away til next time. When a kit is complete he runs around for the next few days telling anyone (regardless of how dis-interested they are) all about the kit and the MS it’s based on.

Happy to see another family enjoying the hobby 🙂

That’s awesome, Timber. My daughter doesn’t know anything about the MS (just like Daddy) but she enjoys showing it. Then it gets put on her bookcase in her room with her other SDs. Sometimes I will check on her to see if she is sleeping and she will be trying to put an arm back on her 00 Raiser. Love it.

Ha! My boy has a shelf dedicated to his (actually, he’s comandeered ALL) SDs. Strike Noir is his weapon of choice. We just built the SD Stargazer so it has a sparring partner.

Oh man, I didn’t like the original model because of how “cutsie” it look, but I want this one. I must be like Pavlov’s dog when it comes to exclusive Gunpla.

I am so envy right now…. I love cute MS, I have the original ( sitting on my desk looking at me right now ) and this is the second pink bearguy the make…. The first was a light shade of pink, and with a darker one, exclusive too, but I think it was a convention exclusive. I love pink suits! But there are so few of then… =/. I would kill to get a pink bearguy! ( can’t paint, here pain’t it’s too expensive, an average tamiya 23ml bottle goes for like 10 dollars here. Because they need to import from so far, and they can only go by land, I still don’t know why =/ ).

It’s like a polar bear version if you don’t add the stickers.

  6. Rigshokew says:

you did not include the monoeye in the kit?

I have a standard version of the BearGGuy and also did not include the monoeye (cause i lost it when I painted it hehehe 🙂 )

but your 7-11 version colors are really good… wanna have this version too but can’t find them (i’ll have it pose together with Zake Warrior ~ Live concert special… Lacus will love it haha!)

yes, I left the monoeye out of the build. I was building this with my 4 year old daughter and that part was too small for her.
