Well, that was fast. January just flew by and it brings us, not only some really cold weather, but also to February’s edition of The Work Table. Not much has changed since the January Work Table but there are some things that are worthy of mention and the point of this series of posts is to keep the readers (and myself) abreast on the status of my current and future projects. So, without further ado, let’s look at what is no longer on my work table.
限定Kara Hobby 00 Gundam Seven Sword /G Inspection
This created a bit of buzz because, although I didn’t know it when I started building it, it comes with a stand that bandai will be releasing as the Action Base 3. This kit is effectively finished as I don’t have any plans for it. I tend to leave the 限定 items as they are. They’re special enough already. You can read more about the build here.
Also, no longer on the work table is the.. err… wait. I only completed one kit this month? Aiyeeee!!
Well, I would have finished the Iron Man ReZEL if it wasn’t for the missing part. Aargh. So this guy actually belongs in the list of kits currently on the worktable.
MG ReZEL (aka Iron Man ReZEL)
I wanted to have this guy done by the end of January so I could join the list of completed-ReZEL Gunplars on the Gundam Australia Forum ReZEL Group Build Project. There are some awesome ReZELs in there so far. I will write more about my experience with this guy later but I will state now that it wasn’t always rosy.
HGFC Nobell Gundam
The test build is done and a review should be up soon. After that I will be working on painting it. I won’t do as much work on it as I did with the G Gundam, but the painting will be along similar lines. I want them to have the same look.
PG Strike Freedom Gundam
Here is where I’m at so far. With this kit being featured on Gunpla TV I have to schedule my work on it around shootings. Now that the filming for the skirt portion is done I can get to work on the next section; the torso. Liking it so far, but like ASM has pointed out a few times on his blog, the Strike has some of the lame yellow frame showing underneath the armor. I had thought, as this was my first Perfect Grade, that I would just build it out of the box, however…
Back on the Work Table!
MG Sword Impulse Gundam
Man, I love this kit! I couldn’t just let it sit there so I got it back out and am now adding details to it using gundam markers. An out of the box build with some added touches. I also started applying decals so I hope to be top-coating this guy this weekend. Then he’ll have a proper gallery in the Galleries section.
When the Sword Impulse finishes up it will free some time to work on some of the kits that are currently
Under the Work Table (got ’em, haven’t started.)
1/72 VF-25F Tornado Messiah Valkyrie Alto Custom
I think February will be the month this guy officially gets under way. I need to experience a Macross kit and better now than never. I am still as excited about it as the day I picked it up.
MG Force Impulse
MG V Dash
MG Zaku Cannon
MG Gundam Mk-II Titans
These kits are involved in The Poll, which will determine which MG kit I will be building next. If you haven’t voted now hit the link to read the details and then cast your vote.
These two kits have found themselves under the work table thanks to some generous people who decided they no longer had time or wanted to build them. No solid plans for the Qubeley yet but I will be painting up the Blue Frame.
1/144 RG MS-06S Char’s Zaku II
I’m getting the fever. The RG fever. To be honest this one started to look less and less interesting and more and more time consuming. However, having recently seen some amazing examples of this kit in the latest Dengeki Hobby and Hobby Japan I am back on board. And I will be painting this kit. Expect to not see any red.
What’s coming to the Work Table?
To be honest there isn’t really anything being released soon that interests me. Having already built the MG Deathscythe EW, despite how awesome the Deathscythe Hell looks I don’t really feel the need to build it again. It does look really good, though. Come April, though, there are some definite ‘gets’, such as the RG Aile Strike! I will be painting it as well. Strike Rouge, anyone? My first thought was that the third RG would be the Zeta, but considering how difficult it would be to make it a transforming kit I can understand why it hasn’t been announced yet. The Strike is a solid choice for Real Grade number three. What do you guys want to see as an RG?
Also, negotiations are under way about a another potential collaboration with ASM. It will be some time before anything is decided as there is plenty on both our plates but once details are hammered out they will be announced here.
One final thing, Busterbeam of Plamo Addiction is winging his way back to Canada at the time of this writing. I hope he has a safe trip and his Gunpla an even safer one.
And I guess you should know…
